From the Shōwa era to Reiwa, Toho has released a total of 33 Godzilla films, spanning more than four generations of the iconic monster. We have selected Godzilla from different eras, including the original 1954 Godzilla, the second-generation Heisei Godzilla from 1992, the third-generation Millennium Godzilla from 1999, and Godzilla’s Millennium era rival—MFS-3 (Multi-Purpose Fighting System-3), also known as Mechagodzilla.

｜Label Design｜

1954 Original Godzilla: 50 meters tall, 20,000 tons

A beast that lay dormant beneath the Bikini Atoll, awakened by humanity’s reckless use of weapons. This unnatural revival granted it a unique vitality, leading to its devastating attack on Japan.

Godzilla’s appearance was inspired by various prehistoric creatures, including the Iguanodon, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Stegosaurus. Even its iconic roar was meticulously crafted—after experimenting with multiple techniques, the final sound was achieved by coating a leather glove with pine tar and rubbing it against the strings of a double bass, creating a sharp, eerie tone. The recording was then played in reverse, giving birth to Godzilla’s haunting, hellish wail.
